Whether you’ve lived in Charleston all your life or are in the city for a few days visiting, the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston Autograph Collection at 55 Wentworth St in downtown Charleston is a place you’re not going to want to miss — especially if you’re an art enthusiast. This hotel is one of twelve hotels in the Kessler Collection and one of the reasons why the hotels in the collection are so popular is that, aside from being absolutely breathtaking inside and out, many are home to North America’s 2nd largest art collector’s collection of art! Meaning, a step inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston instantly transports you into an eloquent art gallery, where you can gaze at impressive pieces of art from all around the world.

And once you’ve viewed each piece, I suggest walking into the hotel’s exquisite lobby where you can find more artwork displayed along the walls below the lobby’s sparkling chandeliers as well as a few stunning gemstones. If that’s not enough you can wander up and down the hotel’s hallways, each of which is lined with paintings from the collection. And yes even the outdoor entrance to the hotel has art on display. Like I said, the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston Autograph Collection is not to be missed, and I’d even recommend visiting often because the art is refreshed frequently so there is always something new to see.

So while, yes, the luxurious Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston Autograph Collection is a popular Charleston SC 5 star hotel, it is also home to one of Charleston’s most respected art galleries, with a curated collection of paintings, sculptures and jewelry. The best part is, you can purchase many of the pieces yourself since many of the pieces in the gallery are also for sale. It’s been said that the art gallery inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston is one of the most eclectic and visually stimulating art galleries in the nation. The collection at the Grand Bohemian Gallery includes pieces from both internationally and locally renowned artists.

Once you’re done browsing the art gallery I highly recommend taking the elevator up to the rooftop restaurant Élevé, as it’s a favorite rooftop restaurant in Charleston SC for many who live here and frequent visitors alike. Once upstairs you can sit inside the restaurant, or at the bar to grab a bite of food or, like most people, find seating outside and sip a drink while taking in the stunning views of Charleston. Ideally the best time to do so is at sunset since the southern skies are truly mesmerizing at sunset.

Charleston is no stranger to art galleries. Anyone who takes a quick walk through the city is guaranteed to come across countless art galleries, however this one unique as, like I mentioned earlier, it displays art from all over the world that has been collected by Richard C. Kessler himself, the established hotelier behind the Kessler Collection hotels and North America’s 2nd largest private art collector. So if you’re in the area visiting or live locally, this Charleston art gallery is a must-visit.
Charleston SC Wine Bar + Wine Blending Class
Of course, if you’re not into cocktails or are simply in the mood for a glass of wine, you can always find a seat at the upscale wine bar located just steps from the hotel’s lobby. Their wine selection varies each month, so you can always find something new and delicious to sip on, and if you consider yourself a wine connoisseur you can also book a wine blending class right inside the wine bar to blend your very own, custom red blend!
